INTRODUCING LOCAL HACK DAY GUILDS

One of the best parts of our community is that it allows people to meet and make connections with others, regardless of where you live. Form a Guild of hackers, and fight for a spot on the leaderboard of the most active Guilds because the higher you are, the more swag you’ll get!

Every time you participate in a workshop in the week leading up to Local Hack Day: Learn and the day itself, you’ll earn points for your Guild. There’s strength in numbers, so make sure to get as many of your friends to sign up!

BUILD YOUR GUILD

Building a Guild is as simple as signing up for events with your friends. Guilds are meant as a way that communities can participate and win swag for themselves at Local Hack Day. Putting together a Guild can be super rewarding and is a great way for leaders to do something with their community.

GETTING STARTED

1. Form your Guild

To get started, find at least two friends to be part of your Guild. The more Guild members you have, the better. Then complete this Guild Formation form with your Guild name and early members to formalize your Guild.

When your Guild has been accepted, it will be added to the Local Hack Day registration page for your Guild members to select when they sign up for an event.

It’s time to build your Guild following. Get your community engaged and have them sign up for Local Hack Day events with your Guild name. We have put together some helpful marketing templates that you can use to spread the word about your Guild.

HOW IT WORKS

Challenge points will be given to Guilds based on the registration and check-ins using our Event platform that is hosting all Local Hack Day events.

Guild members can participate in multiple Local Hack Day events to win more points for their Guild. However, they can not be part of multiple Guilds.

Local Hack Day events, Guilds, and the challenges are meant to encourage more communities to participate and have fun. Cheating or abusing the system will not be tolerated. All Local Hack Day participants, organizers, and sponsors must read and agree to the MLH Code of Conduct.
