Good afternoon, hackers!
Today we’re super pumped to help GitHub announce the GitHub Student Developer Pack. Learning how to hack can be a costly affair, as access to APIs and company-specific resources can go up to thousands of dollars a month. That’s not fair for students, and that’s definitely not fair for students who can’t afford it. So this Student Developer Pack, which is free for all students, is a game-changing resource that can do a lot for code education and code inclusiveness.
As the official Events Partner for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, we here at Major League Hacking are incredibly excited about this, and we wanted to make sure every college, university, and high-school hacker gets word about this fantastic resource.
We believe that every student should have the opportunity to hack, and our events will provide the in-person venue for students to learn how to utilize their awesome new resources and build crazy technology with their friends.
The free student pack, which launches RIGHT NOW, includes development tools by (in no particular order):
- Unreal Engine
- ScreenHero
- NameCheap
- Stripe
- SendGrid
- DNSimple
- Github (obviously)
- HackHands
- Atom
- Orchestrate
- Bitnami
- Crowdflower
- Digital Ocean
- Travis CL
Eligibility: To be eligible for the pack, you need to be 13+ in age and are currently enrolled in a degree or diploma-granting course of study. All you need is a school-issued email address (like early Facebook, yo), a valid student identification card, or other official proof of enrollment.
You can access the pack right here: http://education.github.com/pack
Happy hacking!
