It’s hackathon season again! We’re super excited to announce the arrival of the European Fall 2015 Season. In our last season (EU Spring 2015), we saw hackers travel from all over the world participating in 18 events across 7 different European countries!
A special and warm welcome to the 4 new countries joining us this season thus far – Germany, Poland, Finland, and Georgia!
We’ve also seen a huge interest in our global Local Hack Day, with mini hackathons already being organised in Lithuania, Belgium, Poland, Cyprus, and of course the UK!
The European Fall Season kicks off in October and we currently have 7 events plus several Local Hack Days on the lineup – with plenty more to come! Below are a few reasons as to why you should get involved:
Local Hack Day Everywhere, Worldwide • October 10th
After a super successful launch involving 34 events last December, we’re taking Local Hack Day global this year! Sign up to a 12 hour mini-hackathon near you to celebrate the hacker community with live streams, chatrooms, and fun activities running throughout the day!
JacobsHack Bremen, Germany • October 17th – 18th
The first official EU hackathon of the coming season, JacobsHack will be held at one of the most diverse university campuses in Europe. With 2 previous editions under their belt, the team behind JacobsHack will be pushing their “I Hack, Therefore I Am” motto even harder than before!
AGHacks Kraków, Poland • October 23rd – 25th
Based in Kraków, Poland, this will be our first venture into this beautiful country! AGHacks has been hugely successful amongst university students in Poland in the past and we’re super excited to welcome them to the MLH Fall Season.
BrumHack Birmingham, UK • October 24th – 25th
BrumHack is back, for its third installment! Based in one of the UK’s most creative cities, the past 2 editions has welcomed some of the best hackers from across the country with giant pizzas featured on their food menu. Definitely an event not to be missed!
Junction Helsinki, Finland • November 6th – 8th
Another new country joining us in the Fall 2015 Season, Junction has a strong focus on building the future. Hack on tracks such as ‘Future of Digital Payments’ and ‘Future of Commerce’ over the weekend, with the best teams given the opportunity to pitch their hacks at the Slush Conference the following week!
AstonHack Birmingham, UK • November 7th – 8th
The first MLH sanctioned hackathon at Aston University in Birmingham is coming this season with Aston Computer Science Society’s AstonHack! The wonderful city of Birmingham has two fantastic student hackathons so there’s really no excuse not to come to the beautiful West Midlands this season!
HackKings London, UK • December 12th – 13th
KCL Tech, one half of the dynamic-society-duo that made up HackLondon, is back with their own hackathon. The award-winning society is welcoming hackers back to The Strand for another weekend of hackery and fun!
HackTbilisi Tbilisi, Georgia • December 18th – 20th
HackTbilisi is welcomed as the first MLH sanctioned hackathon in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi. This event promises to be an exciting venture towards spreading the amazing hacker ethos to more inspiring student hackers in Eastern Europe.
More hackathons to be announced soon!
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be working hard to add more events to this list. If you’re interested in throwing a hackathon in Europe, feel free to get in touch!
You’ll always be able to find the official schedule here.
