We are beyond ecstatic to announce today that Nick Quinlan, a world-renowned developer evangelist and loon enthusiast, will be joining the Major League Hacking team as the full-time Commissioner of the League starting in mid-November.

Our mission here at Major League Hacking is to give every student on the planet the opportunity to be part of a hacker community. If you’ve ever met Nick, it is as clear to you as it is to us that he cares deeply about this mission and has given his heart and soul to help support this community over the last few years.

Frequently, hackathon organizers go out of their way to tell us how helpful, supportive, and insightful Nick has been as they planned their events. His experience as a developer evangelism leader and a hackathon organizer himself has made him the ideal Commissioner. We couldn’t think of a better person to help support student hackathon organizers.

Nick Quinlan Major League Hacking

Nick will be onboarding and working with all MLH hackathon organizers starting in the Spring season to make sure that their events are successful and inspiring. He will also be developing new initiatives to better support student hackers and hackathon organizers all over the world.

Of course, I’ll still be heavily involved in the League and will of course be frequently sighted at hackathons. I love this community more than anything else (except maybe my girlfriend) and I cannot wait to see how we grow with Nick at the helm of the league. I will be investing my time in making the MLH team as successful as possible and ensuring that we are supporting student hackers for years to come.

You can reach Nick at nq@mlh.io or tweet loon pictures at @YayNickQ.

Happy Hacking.

Swift

P.S.  If you’re a current or aspiring student hackathon organizer, applications for the 2015 Spring Hackathon Season are now open.   Just fill out a few details here and we’ll be in touch shortly!
